2018

Saturday 27th January 2018

Merrymaker are a folk influenced group who create music about what is happening in and around the world around them, right now.

Founded in 2016 by Dan Sealey (formerly of Ocean Colour Scene, Merrymouth) and Adam Barry (The Misers, Merrymouth), Merrymaker have since been joined by singer and multi-instrumentalists Paul McCormack, and violinist Hannah Lawson.

Influenced by songwriters such as John Lennon and Bob Dylan – who not only wrote music about things that affected them directly, but subjects that provided a reflection of culture and society at the me – Merrymaker perform a rich and captivating mixture of brand new, original material and music from albums they have performed on throughout their respective careers.

Merrymaker returned to Derby Folk Festival 2017 after a successful appearance in 2016 and two sell out shows at Village Folk, Derby, in January 2016 and January 2017. Earlier in 2017, they enjoyed a well-received appearance at Stratford Folk Festival alongside Cara Dillon and Show Of Hands.

Merrymaker have to date released four singles and are currently recording new material, in between festival and other numerous live performances.

“... it is welcome to hear a band focusing on this year and communicating

a differing viewpoint... one from society itself. Merrymaker are...

creating a commentary on the times we are living in.”
