'Hard Times of Old England'
'Death And The Lady'

Peter, Vincent and Roger will be returning to Village Folk, this time to perform in our 'Concert by Candlelight' in the pretty Norman church of St. Peter's, Chellaston - a venue with a truly magical setting for what is now becoming, our annual 'festive gig'.
We are really looking forward to this special night in our calendar, with Gigspanner's breathtaking music amidst the lit candelabra chandeliers and the backdrop of our show lighting, plus all the lovely decorated Christmas trees donated by local organisations, lots of fairy lights and of course you, our lovely audience! We know for a fact that this is going to be an evening 'not to be missed'!

Since his departure from folk-rock pioneers Steeleye Span, at the end of 2013, legendary fiddle player Peter Knight has turned his full attention to his trio Gigspanner, a process which has firmly established their burgeoning reputation as one of the most innovative acts on the folk/roots scene - whilst garnering a reputation for dismantling traditional music and song, then reassembling it in an intriguing, imaginative and beautiful way.

Peter is joined by Roger Flack on guitar and Vincent Salzfaas on Ptercussion, both of whom are powerful and intelligent musicians in their own right.

Whilst traditional music forms the bedrock of the trio's repertoire, it is their unique approach that sets it apart...leaving enough space within the arrangements to spread and stretch the music 'in the moment'.
The stretching of the music to embrace other influences is what makes it appealing, not only to lovers of folk music, but to anyone who has an appreciation of beautiful and inspiring music.

2016 has got off to a fine start for the trio, with Peter receiving Fatea Magazine's 'Instrumentalist of the Year' Award and ‘Best Musician’ in the inaugural folking.com Awards - as voted for by the concert going public.
Their 2015 album ‘Layers of Ages’ has featured on several ‘Album of the Year’ listings, including The Telegraph, R2 Magazine and BBC Radio Merseyside.

“Magnificent…a feast of imaginative music” 5***** The Telegraph

"With his trio, Peter Knight breaks new ground and is second to absolutely nobody...ground-breaking, engaging, frequently astonishing, Gigspanner deliver a quite simply superb set"
- Maverick Magazine

"Gigspanner have taken traditional tunes as a starting point and rearranged, orchestrated and improvised around them to create fascinating new works. Their increasingly impressive sound is like no other" - Folk Radio UK
