Winter Wilson

21st November 2015

Following the demise of folk-rock band Ragtrade in 1994, former members Kip Winter and Dave Wilson were asked to perform as a duo in their local (The Cross Keys in Upton, Notts, then a regular folk music venue). The success of that first evening led to the formation of Winter Wilson, 17 years of part-time touring, and 5 critically-acclaimed albums.

During this time the couple built a reputation for stunning harmonies, spontaneous, off-the-wall humour and fine songs - Vin Garbutt is one of many to have covered Dave's "Storm Around Tumbledown".

In 2012, with redundancy looming, the pair took a leap of faith and have been making a living from their music ever since.

They have now established their own cottage industry, writing songs, recording, designing album covers, posters, tee shirts, websites, and promotion, setting up tours and spending most of the year living in a camper van.

2013 saw them touring the UK, playing folk clubs and festivals. "Nights off" were filled playing floor spots and singarounds, many of which then led to further bookings, and so the profile grew.

2015 will see Winter Wilson tour the length and breadth of the UK, delighting audiences in folk clubs and festivals, village halls and arts centres.

"It's been a long journey, and it's not over yet."

We welcome this fantastic duo to Village Folk!
